Gustatory Rhinitis

Gustatory rhinitis is a form of nonallergic rhinitis. It describes a syndrome of abundant watery nasal discharge immediately following ingestion of typically hot, spicy food. This mechanism is most likely mediated by the vagus nerve which is stimulated by eating. If you have this problem, taking anticholinergics prior to eating may help.
